Environmental Justice: Government Info: Environmental Law & Supreme Court Cases

United States governmental resources regarding environmental justice and relevant environmental law

There are hundreds of environmental law court cases, many of which deal with toxic waste, land development, and air and water pollutants. This guide primarily includes environmental law cases at the Supreme Court level that have either directly affected the process and scope for regulatory agencies or signaled symbolic and/or functional changes for environmental law. Few cases directly address "environmental justice" but instead focus on aspects of land use and management, pollutants, oversight, and regulatory authority. Additionally, the resulting effects of major environmental Supreme Court cases often impact populations going forward and provide a framework for understanding environmental law and justice in the United States.
